Synopsis of Understanding Teenagers & Their Mental Health

After navigating through the super-fast development stages of their Early years and pre-teens, children will enter into what can be one of the most exciting but challenging times of their life so far…adolescence or ‘the teenage years’ and even for us sometimes understanding teenagers & their mental health condition gets harder.

Hormones will be raging and with the onset of puberty, a developing sense of identity, an interest in sex and relationships and the pressures of growing into an adult this can be a very testing and emotional time for both the young person and their parents or carers.

This course is going to look at the teenage stages of development and explore the issues that typical teenagers and their families may face.

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in working with young people, anyone already in a role where they come into contact with young people or for anyone who has a general interest in the subject.

By the end of the course learners should have a greater understanding of:

  • Sex and sexual relationships among teenagers
  • Typical Teenage Behaviours and how to manage them
  • The worries that parents and teenagers have about life and becoming an adult in today’s society
